Financial Support for Human Rights Defenders and Human Rights NGOs
The World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) is today the main coalition of international non-governmental organisations (NGO) fighting against torture, summary executions, enforced disappearances and all other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment.
With over 200 affiliated organisations in its SOS-Torture Network and many tens of thousands correspondents in every country, OMCT is the most important network of non-governmental organisations working for the protection and the promotion of human rights in the world.
OMCT, including in the framework of the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, provides financial support to human rights defenders and local human rights organisations in need of urgent support, in any region of the world:
- Emergency material support to human rights defenders at riskOMCT provides material assistance and emergency support to human rights defenders at risk working in the most difficult circumstances, in any region of the world.
Eligible expenses for financial support or direct material support to human rights defenders and human rights organisations include the following: Physical security;
Digital security;
communications;
Capacity building in security;
Secure transportation;
legal support;
Medical support (including psycho-social support and rehabilitation);
Social assistance (including family support);
Support to temporary relocation where necessary;
Urgent monitoring, reporting and advocacy; etc.
Financial support to strengthen and sustain sensitive initiatives by local human rights organisations
- OMCT provides support to local human rights organisations from any region of the world in order to enable them to consolidate their operational activities, allowing them to develop sensitive initiatives and/or sustain their work, as well as to strengthen their capacities to implement local innovative activities and projects to prevent and respond to infringements faced by human rights defenders and their organisations.Advocacy grants to human rights organisations from Turkey
- OMCT-Europe provides institutional grants to human rights organisations from Turkey (including loose and unregistered groups, initiatives or networks) with the aim to strengthen their capacities to implement advocacy activities aiming at preventing and responding to developments adversely affecting human rights and the human rights defenders’ movements at the local level, especially those working on behalf of vulnerable communities.Applications Accepted All Year Round!
