Job Summary: The Child Protection Case Worker will provide support in identifying, documenting and responding to child protection cases of vulnerable children in refugee settlements. The case worker will monitor, conduct case by case follow ups and facilitate the interim care and reunification process of separated or unaccompanied children as a result of the South Sudanese refugee influx in Bidibidi refugee settlement- Yumbe district.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Management:

  • Support the team to Identify, document, refer and follow up on 100% cases of vulnerable children in the respective zones in Bidibidi refugee settlement.
  • Support vulnerable children and ensure they have access to the basic care relief items, services in the community and interim care.
  • The incumbent will also document and facilitate family tracing process of children who have been separated from their parents or caregiver. This will be in partnership with the relevant service providers in family tracing and reunification.
  • Hold meetings with vulnerable children and their families together with service providers to formulate and implement case by case action plans in providing appropriate services.
  • Work alongside the social protection facilitator to ensure coordination with different stakeholders for case management to take place.
  • Actively participate in regular case conferences with other case workers and protection assistants to ensure equitable service provision to all vulnerable children.
  • Ensure all the necessary paper work for case management, interim care and reunifications are completed accurately and stored in the case files to facilitate CPIMS data entry.

Technical and Capacity Building:

  • Conduct regular data cleaning and submit all case files to the Data entry protection assistant and CPIMS facilitator input into the CPIMS.
  • Prepare field reports, analyses BIAs conducted, child protection concerns and submit to the allocated supervisor.
  • Support the social protection Facilitator in ensuring that all urgent referrals are immediately submitted to child protection coordinator for coordination with the relevant partners.
  • Participate in community sessions with unaccompanied and separated children, interim guardians/caregivers so as to build relationships with communities and children.
  • Work with the Child Protection structures and foster care networks to support in identifying cases, developing community links and to discuss child protection issues within the community including regular meetings with Child protection committees.
  • Build capacity of communities, child protection structures, foster care networks on Guiding Principles on unaccompanied and separated children, interim care and child participation.
  • Link vulnerable children to available services especially child friendly spaces, early childhood development centers, schools and other community based institutions.
  • Facilitate planning sessions with the interim care families on the gift notifications in form of cash grants to facilitate recovery and livelihoods.
  • Link the foster families to available services providers in the respective zone
  • Provide child protection information to relevant stakeholders and ensure that consent forms, behavioral protocols, confidentiality forms among others are signed and on file.
  • Facilitate the participation of all children and ensure that they are listened to and their opinions respected on all issue related to durable solutions for their care and up-bringing.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the World Vision Child Protection Case Worker job opportunity should hold a diploma in social sciences, education, and community psychology. A bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • One year of experience in working with refugees
  • Must able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Must be ready to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Knowledge of implementation psychosocial care
  • Appropriate communication skill and approachable
  • Must have no history of violation of child protection in emergencies
  • Fluent in English, Arabic is a plus
