The Lotteries and Gaming Regulatory Board (LGRB) is a body corporate established under the Lotteries and Gaming Act No.7 of 2016 to supervise and regulate the establishment, management and operation of lotteries, gaming, betting and casinos in Uganda.
Job Summary: The Officer Legal will implement departmental activities including litigation, contracts, and provide legal counsel to the Secretariat through the Manager Legal
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Draft legal documents and review draft legislation.
- Receive and disseminate information and services of all legal documents and prepare responses in accordance with the Lotteries and Gaming Act and other relevant laws.
- Review progress of outstanding litigation and liaise with and manage external lawyers.
- Monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports for the department for executive management meetings
- Assist in the review of all contracts or any other documentation where the organisation has committed itself and assess legal implications that need to be brought to the executive management’s attention.
- Assist in the preparation, review and modify contractual instruments to assist and support various business activities.
- Coordinate the negotiation, review and draft documentation for business transactions and prepare and advise on the necessary checklist to be adopted to ensure information is submitted on time.
- Perform any other duty as may be directed by your supervisor from time to time
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold an Hons Bachelor’s Degree in Law
- Diploma in Legal practice
- At least two years of experience of legal practice in a reputable organization.
