Job Title: Procurement Officer

Kijani Forestry envisions planting indigenous, fast-growing trees that can be coppiced to replace old-growth forests. The organization utilizes proven techniques and technologies to design a new business model focused on sustainable charcoal grown in an agroforestry ecosystem.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review company purchases and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
- Cultivate and manage relationships with vendors.
- Analyze pricing trends and market conditions to inform procurement decisions.
- Lead sourcing events and negotiate contracts with suppliers.
- Stay updated on industry trends to enhance procurement strategies.
- Support the development of new policies and procedures to drive savings.
- Monitor and evaluate savings against targets.
- Lead research efforts to validate savings projections and improve supplier negotiations.
- Assist in selecting appropriate suppliers, ensuring ethical purchasing standards.
- Maintain contracts with vendors and review inventory as required.
- Monitor delivery times and resolve order discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the finance department for timely invoice submission.
- Maintain organized procurement documentation and ensure accuracy.
- Identify and report potential risks in the procurement process.
- Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address contractual issues.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Two years of related work experience.
- Experience in a fast-paced/startup environment is desired but not essential.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Leadership and team management experience.
