About the project:
“Simameni: Stand Together for Girls’ Education” is a five-year project of the Canadian Teachers’ Federation (CTF/FCE) and the Uganda National Teachers’ Union (UNATU). Simameni, which means “stand up” in Swahili, seeks to improve access to, participation in, retention and opportunities from quality publicly funded public education for girls and young women at the secondary school level in selected communities within the Western and Teso regions of Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to and support the planning and implementation of the WNCB project
- Provide project administrative support such as periodic reporting, organising meetings and events, maintaining project documents and reports, and ensure the smooth running of all project activities.
- Liaise and maintain a good working relationship with relevant Government, Civil Society Organisation’s, stakeholders within the community and other actors relevant to the successful implementation of the WNCB project
- Conduct periodic situational assessments on Child labour within the project areas and thoroughly document findings and report issues that need treatment attention.
- Closely follow up on the progress of children withdrawn from child labour and enrolled in school Monitoring, evaluation and coordination of the WNCB project activities
- Write and submit project progressive reports to UNATU head office Perform other project related duties as necessary
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Development Studies, Social Sciences or any other relevant field
- At least 2 years of relevant experience with similar work in a reputable and busy Organization Demonstrated ability and experience in riding a motorcycle
