LWF Uganda works to reduce people’s vulnerability, supporting them to realize their potential, to build on their assets, and to respond to their own problems and needs. LWF Uganda currently has five areas of operation in Pader, Kitgum, Adjumani, Katakwi, Sembabule, Kampala and Kamwenge Districts.

Job Summary:    The Project Officer Livelihoods  is in charge of the implementation of the livelihood components of the LWF multi-sectoral UNHCR Funded emergency project in Kyangwali, She/he will provide direct supervision and facilitate implementation of the budgetary control, M & E and reports. In addition to coordination, she / he will also provide technical expertise on livelihoods of the project from a strategic and programmatic point of view

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Project Officer Livelihoods career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Studies or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • At least two years’ experience working in livelihoods or income generating projects preferably with an NGO in a refugee/IDP setting;
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks while working as part of a team, good planning and organizational skills coupled with problem solving capabilities, hands-on community mobilization skills, a strong self-starter with ability to take initiative are highly desirable for this position;
  • Experience of community development work and working with marginalised communities;
  • Experience of running and arranging informal information sessions, formal training courses and facilitating group based training;
  • Experience of monitoring and evaluation, team leadership skills, with ability to motivate
  • Excellent understanding of poverty and social exclusion and in particular barriers to the labour market.
