UAP Group has grown into a Pan-African Financial Services Group with a geographical footprint in six (6) countries namely Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The range of services and products have grown beyond General Insurance to include Life Assurance, Property Investments, and Fund Management and related Financial Services such as insurance premium financing, financial advisory and securities brokerage.
Job Summary: The Head of Marketing, Distribution and Customer Service will provide leadership and direction to the Marketing, Distribution & Customer Service functions to deliver the General business budget and establish UAP Old Mutual Insurance as a world class insurer.
Head of Marketing, Distribution and Customer Service
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy for UAP that is able to foster the achievement of set business goals in respect to top line, profitability, market share, client recruitment, etc;
- Develop and implement the advertising, promotions, thought leadership and public relations campaigns across multiple projects to help build UAP’s market share, brand name and image in the market place
- Drive growth, product and sales training among all distribution channels, including: direct sales, brokers, agents, branches so as to ensure maximum client reach and profitability of the relevant channels at appropriate cost levels
- Drive market research that is aimed at identifying new business potential and participate in the development of new products to fill special market niches
- Set customer care/service standards for the company and drive customer satisfaction programs to ensure that they meet and exceed set standards
- Ensure that the team submits accurate, quality and timely business reports and use these to compile departmental reports for review by senior management and the Board
- Ensure quality incentive schemes that help to drive the achievement of business goals are developed and implemented for staff and agents
- Monitor and collect market intel and advise the senior management team on opportunities/threats that are presented
- Identify areas where UAP can build its brand presence in the market through creating relationships with media houses.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication/Marketing with sales and marketing
- A Master’s Degree in Finance or MBA is also highly desirable
- Professional Qualification such as CIM will be an added advantage
- At least eight years’ experience in the financial services industry, four of which should have been spent as Senior Management level
- Ability to think strategically, but with a hands-on pragmatic approach to implementation of strategy
- An enthusiastic team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build strong collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
