About US:
The Goethe-Zentrum Kampala/ Uganda German Cultural Society is a non-political and non-profit organisation (cultural society) based in Kampala. It is a cooperation partner of the Goethe-Institute that yearly supports the projects of the cultural society with financial help. Our core tasks consist in the promotion of German-Ugandan relationships and in the building of a platform for the intercultural dialogue in Kampala and with other African countries. We seek this by offering cultural events and German and Luganda classes.
The Goethe-Institut e. V. is the worldwide cultural institute of the Federal Republic of Germany. We promote the learning of the German language abroad and perpetuate international cultural cooperation. Moreover, we strive to paint a realistic picture of Germany through information about the cultural, societal and political life.
Goethe-Institut Kenya operates the BKD (Bildungskooperation Deutsch) and PASCH-Programme in Kenya, Burundi, Ruanda and Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordination of all of the programmes related to the learning of German at the PASCH-and BKD-Schools in Uganda
- Training of teachers at the PASCH-Schools in all aspects of the PASCH-Programme and supporting them in conducting the PASCH-Programme at their school
- Communication with the Goethe-Zentrum and teachers at BKD-Schools in Uganda and Goethe-Institut in Nairobi on all matters regarding BKD and PASCH
- Logistical organization of PASCH- and BKD-Projects
- Miscellaneous activities contributing to the implementation of cultural and educational projects
- General organizational work relating to PASCH and BKD programmes and projects of the Goethe-Institut Kenya
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should have relevant qualifications
- Excellent knowledge of German and English
- Pronounced managing skills
- Very good Knowledge of the PASCH-Programme, the school landscape in Uganda
- Internet and cultural affinity (interest in cultural exchange, languages, arts)
- Proactive, self-driven, can work without supervision
- Great intercultural skills
- Motivation und creativity
The contractor carries out the commissioned service personally and on his own responsibility. The contractor works by the hour. The hourly volume is a maximum of 8 hours per week (equals 32h per month).
