Joining Forces to End Violence Against Children is a global collaboration between 6 leading child rights organisations – ChildFund, Plan International, Save the Children, SOS Children’s Villages, Terre des Hommes and World Vision.  In Uganda the Joining Forces Coalition (JFC) focuses on ending violence against children in schools. Working together means we can better influence policy and decision makers, influence community practices, share expertise, information and innovation; scale up what works and maximize our impact.

Job Summary: The Campaign Coordinator is responsible for the overall coordination between the six Joining Forces coalition members. S/he leads on the design of the joint campaign plan to End Corporal Punishment in Schools and ensures effective implementation of the campaign, including advocacy, research and public campaigning and mobilisation at national and community level. S/he coordinates activities across partners and engages external stakeholders, and will also be responsible for identifying funding opportunities.  The Campaign Coordinator liases with the global JFC Secretariat and Project Manager and works closely with the Technical Experts of the JFC members in country. S/he reports periodically to the CD Steering Group.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Rights, Governance, Social Science, Social Work and Social Administration, Arts, Education, Development studies, Law, Communications/media or other relevant subject
  • Post Graduate training in Project Management, Community Development or a Master’s degree in any relevant field is an added advantage.
  • Any relevant  specific experience or training on the Child Protection and Child Rights Programming
  • At least 4-7 years work experience with (I)NGO in programming, campaigning and communication for children’s rights, in particular related to child protection and education; proven experience with (child rights) campaigning is preferrable.
  • Track record of work experience in which strong campaigning, communication, advocacy and interpersonal skills were required.
  • A proven ability to design and implement public campaigns which influence attitudes in Ugandan communities
  • Proven ability to perform multi-tasking and ability to work on tight deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work in a multicultural/cross cultural environment. Adaptable, flexible with a high level of work ethics.
  • Understanding of donors and resource mobilization.
  • Proven experience in planning, organization and coordination
  • Proven experience in influencing and negotiation.
