Diploma in Nursing [DN] (Direct Entry)
Entry Requirements
- Applicant MUST have been in school 3 years prior to application
- Applicant MUST have completed their A-Level and obtained at least 2 principal passes, one of which MUST be in Biology.
- Applicant MUST satisfy the requirements of the Joint Admissions Board (JAB) of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES).
Diploma in Midwifery [DM] (Direct Entry)
Entry Requirements
- Applicant MUST have completed their A-Level and obtained at least 2 principal passes, one of which MUST be in Biology.
- Applicant MUST satisfy the requirements of the Joint Admissions Board (JAB) of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES).
- Applicant MUST have been in school within 3 years prior to application.
Certificate in Comprehensive Nursing [CCN]
Entry Requirements
- Completion or possession of an O-Level Certificate with passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Must be 18 years and/or above.
- Must have been in school within the previous 3 years before applying.
Candidates MUST satisfy the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) interview panel.
Certificate in Midwifery [CM]
Entry Requirements
- Completion or possession of an O-Level Certificate with passes in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Must be 18 years and/or above.
- Must have been in school within the previous 3 years before applying.
Candidates MUST satisfy the requirements of the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) and the Ministry of Health (MoH) interview panel.
Background of Lacor School of Nursing and Midwifery
Lacor School of Nursing
St. Mary`s Hospital Lacor Nurse Training school was first opened on February 1st 1973 with the aim of training Nurses who would work at the Hospital and in other health facilities in the region. Today the Nurse Training School offers training in Certificate in Enrolled Comprehensive Nursing and Diploma in Registered Nursing. It converted from the training of the traditional Nursing to the training of Enrolled Comprehensive Nursing in November 2003, in compliance with the Uganda national policy on nurses training.

Lacor School of Laboratory Technology
The laboratory assistants’ school in FY 2005/06 has become residential following construction of more students’ dormitories, allowing students from districts far away to study in Lacor. For the first time this year the school has two qualified tutors who were sponsored by the Hospital for training at Health Tutor’s College.

There has been a progressive increase in the number of students admitted yearly to the training schools, due to high demand for training in the region and to infrastructural improvement leading to increased capacity.
