General Admission Requirements

A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to a first degree programme at the University if he/she has:

(i)The Ugandan Certificate of Education (O’Level) with a minimum of 5 passes obtained at the same sitting, and

(ii)At least 2 Principal Passes in approved subjects obtained at the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education Examination (A’Level).

A candidate shall be deemed eligible for consideration for admission to any diploma programme at the University if he/she has:

(i)The Ugandan Certificate of Education with a minimum of 5 Passes obtained at the same sitting, and

(ii)At least 1 principal pass and 2 subsidiary passes in approved principal subjects at the same sitting of the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education Examination (A’Level).

Exceptions to the above general admission requirements are spelt out in the Weighting Criteria.

    • Patrick your first option will be to improve upon your grades in order to make them competitive. Your second option will be to apply to a certificate course in the desired field and progress to a diploma in the same field , before obtaining a bachelors degree.

    • Norman, an engineering course requires that you possess at least pass in physics. If you did not study physics, then you are not eligible to gain admission to an engineering course. You are therefore advised to take a class in this subject before applying.

    • Isaac, unfortunately a fail in physics disqualifies you from gaining admission. You are advised to improve upon your grade.

    • Ibra, entrepreneurship and most importantly economics are crucial to finance and accounting, and are required for admission. You may have to study these programs ( economics especially ) before gaining admission.

    • Ruben, depending on the relationship between network engineering and telecommunications engineering, you may study for 3 years or the standard four years. This decision is solely made by the admissions office.

    • Noah per your subject combinations you can read programs in the fields of Arts and Business. Business is notably marketable, however has higher competition in the job market, unless you excel in your university degree from a renowned university, or intend to be an entrepreneur. Arts on the other hand offers lots of opportunities as it has alot of branches and occupations. Ranging from theatrical to Law

    On 4th May 2017 I introduced that “I’m from Tanzania, awarded Full Technician Certificate (FTC) in Highway Engineering, and last year I attended pre-university entry course for one year. I worked for Tanzania Road Agency (TANROADS) for 8 years as a regional material laboratory In-charge and currently teaching at Technical college since the past three years. I planned to apply for a Bachelor degree program in civil and building engineering. I was asking for the requirements of mature age entry.”

    • Mchana, sorry for that experience. The only requirements for Mature age entry is that, you must be at least 25 years of age at the time of application. You must also provide all previous academic records or certificates.

    • Unfortunately no Alex, with an E in physics you will not be considered for a degree in civil engineering. And you cannot blend a diploma and degree course on one application form. Applications for degree and diploma programmes are conducted separately.

    • Emmy, you chances of gaining admission into statistics is considerably higher than that of Engineering. Physics is crucial to the engineering programmes and are highly competitive.

    • Emmy, the filling of PUJAB forms are highly necessary for a successful application procedure. The forms are submitted to the universities, and indicate your program of interest and your performance. You will have to apply directly to the university as an alternative.

It’s Pauline and I was asking for your guidance ,I got only 4 pass in my O level and got 8points in my A level in G.P I got 6 ,History I got B,Literature in English I got E,Art I got O and in Subsidiary Computer I got 8.I once tried to apply at one of the universities and I was advised to first go and do a diploma course so that it covers up the performance of O level which I did and I did my Diploma in Early Childhood Development at YMCA Mukono and got a second class with points of CGPA:3.64 and yet I want to upgrade in Bachelor of Adult and Community Best Rehabilitation evening Program.
