Makerere Institute of Social Development
Description
Makerere Institute for Social Development is located on plot 807 Sir Apollo Kaggwa Road, opposite Makerere University main play ground. It was established in 1995 as a private institution by a group of Educational experts to offer certificate and diploma courses in various disciplines, ranging from Social Sciences to Business and IT related programs.
It is registered by the Ministry of Education and Sports, and licensed by National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
It is also affiliated to Makerere University Business School (MUBS). It has a full Governing Council and a team of management headed by the principal.

The minimum requirements for entry to diploma course is:
- A Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education with one principle pass and two subsidiaries (13 year study), or an equivalent.
For certificate programs,
- At least 3 credits at Uganda Certificate of Education (11 year study) or an equivalent.
A diploma course takes two years (4 semesters), while a certificate course takes one year (2 semesters).
Application forms are obtained at the Institute. The institute operates a semester system with two in-takes a year (February and August).
Other requirements include academic certificates (O and A Level), birth certificate, ID of the former school and passport size photographs.
