About US:
The Free Zones Act, 2014 was duly enacted by the Parliament of the Republic of Uganda and assented to by H. E. the President of the Republic of Uganda on the 2nd February, 2014. This law provides for the Legal and Institutional Frameworks governing Free Zones and related activities in Uganda. The Uganda Free Zones Authority (UFZA) is mandated to establish, develop, manage, market, maintain, supervise, control and to provide for other related matters of Free Zones in Uganda, as outlined in section 13 of the Free Zones Act, 2014. Free Zones are economic development tools that many Governments have used to stimulate manufacturing for export.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Meet with public officials, Developers, and the public regarding development plans and land use; Gather and analyze economic and environmental studies, censuses, and market research data; Conduct field investigations to analyze factors affecting land use Review site plans submitted by developers and recommend whether proposals should be approved or denied;
- Assess the feasibility of proposals and identify needed changes
- Stay current on zoning or building codes, environmental regulations, and other legal issues;
- Write descriptions of property boundary surveys for use in deeds, leases, or other legal documents;
- To supervise technical staff in the Authority.
- Inspect, test, and measure completed work in order to verify conformance to standards.
- Perform any other duties assigned from time to time.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Project Management or any related field from a recognised University/ Institution.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Physical Planning or Spatial
- At least seven years of experience in a relevant field
- Planning or Urban Planning, Civil Engineering or any other related field.
- Innovative and with a proven high level of integrity;
- Ability to work independently and in a team;
- Excellent interpersonal and Communication skills;
- Excellent analytical skills;
- Knowledge of the Economy;
- Self-motivation and capability to work under tight deadlines in a competitive environment
