Where does a nurse work?
Traditionally you would expect to find nurses in hospitals, and clinics. How can the Department of Nursing help you?
The Department of Nursing at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) offers two programs on full-time basis to obtain the first professional degree, the Bachelor of Nursing Science (BNSc) degree, and the Bachelor of Nursing Science Completion program** It is a tailored course designed for completion within two years. It targets all the nurses who had been in service for at least two years. All the relevant bodies of the university have dully approved this program and it now awaits implementation
You can also choose to continue in your nursing studies by earning a postgraduate degree, notably a master of nursing science at Mbarara University. The university prepares postgraduates to function as advanced level nursing practitioners in hospital settings, communities, and administrative or educational arenas. These graduates will also get employed in non-governmental institutions.
Why you need to enroll at the department of nursing!
- The department of nursing among others uses Context-Based Learning (CBL) as the method of instruction. This provides you with an exciting way to gain practice skills and develop your critical thinking abilities. You will work individually and in small in small groups where you will be exposed to a series of scenarios that integrate content from nursing, basic sciences physical sciences, medical sciences, social sciences and humanities.
- Studying at the department of nursing will get you to know your fellow students, and the departmental staff. During group work you will be required to contribute to the knowledge of others.
- Each term, students receive clinical nursing experience in a variety of settings. These include both the community and hospital experiences.
