About Project:

Joining Forces to End Violence Against Children is a global collaboration between 6 leading child rights organisations – ChildFund, Plan International, Save the Children, SOS Children’s Villages, Terre des Hommes and World Vision.  In Uganda Joining Forces focuses on ending violence against children and ensuring children’s voices are amplified as agents of change.

Job Summary:   The MEAL Coordinator leads the Joining Forces project MEAL function including, design and implementation of basic MEAL tools to adequately plan, monitor, and report in an accurate and timely manner on project performance.  In collaboration with the Project Manager, the partners’ MEAL staff and the implementing teams, s/he ensures that the project undertakes routine Quality Improvement, Result Monitoring & Data Quality assessment, has information briefs, regular sharing of project updates with stakeholders and there is a mechanism in place for collecting, tracking and responding to feedback and complaints from beneficiaries and stakeholders. S/he is responsible for ensuring that project data on outputs and outcome progress is collected, analysed and synthesised accurately and in a timely and tailored manner, to support reporting to the (global) lead agency and donor. S/he supports training of project team and partners in quality data collection and management.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the Save the Children MEAL Coordinator employment vacancy should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities
  • Post Graduate training in M&E or Project planning and Management is an added advantage
  • Minimum of three years working experience in monitoring and evaluation working experience (preferably in Child protection and advocacy related projects with an International NGO).
  • Knowledge and use of various survey methods for monitoring of different programs.
  • Experience of working with local partners and District Local Government in Child Rights Governance, Health, Nutrition, Education and Child Protection is an added advantage.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
  • Sound written and oral presentation skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must. Microsoft office especially word, spreadsheet (Excel), Access, SPSS and GIS applications).
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity.
