Job Summary:
The Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Manager will support the management of Village Enterprise’s robust MEL programming. This role entails technical leadership in MEL for the organization’s Pilots and Research arms, enhancing the effectiveness of data collection, analysis, and reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • MEL Management: Oversee the implementation of MEL programming, refine data collection instruments, and manage MEL staff.
  • Analysis and Reporting: Perform data cleaning and analysis, develop reporting structures, and manage reporting schedules.
  • Information Management: Develop expertise in TaroWorks and Salesforce, lead data monitoring and cleaning, and manage information storage systems.
  • Reporting, Communications, and Fundraising Support: Assist in report drafting, manage partner relationships, and support fundraising efforts.
  • Administration: Provide oversight and leadership, participate in management meetings, and support general operations as needed.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Educational Background: Master’s degree in Monitoring and Evaluation, Economics, Statistics, International Development, Community Development, Development Studies, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree holders with extensive experience are also considered.
  • Experience: Minimum three years of experience in monitoring and evaluation for social impact programming.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Google Docs, Gmail, Android applications, Microsoft Excel, and MS Office suite. Knowledge of/experience with STATA.
  • Critical Thinking: Strong ability to identify solutions and think creatively under pressure.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead and foster professional growth in teams.
  • Language: English fluency required. Knowledge of local languages like Kiswahili, Ateso, Luo, Lango, or Lutooro is an advantage.
