MUBS students advised on Internships

Makerere University Business School,(MUBS) in conjunction with the Uganda Manufacturers Association, ( UMA) and the Ministry of Education and Sports with support from African
Development Bank under the Higher Education Science And Technology (HEST) organized a two day workshop for MUBS students to prepare them for internship.
The Workshop took place on June 15, 2017 at the MUBS Nakawa Campus. The Manager HEST/ Policy, Mr. Allan Ssenyondwa, appreciated the role played by the School and Filed attachment
coordinators in ensuring the smooth running of the exercise. He said the exercise is very important for students because it equips them with skills relevant for the job market. He, however, expressed concern over the limited budget for the exercise, noting that sometimes students go out with limited resources. He informed participants that the different stages of the Field Attachment exercise require compulsory involvement of all academic staff. He noted that staff should take pride in being part of a process that prepares the students they teach for the world of work.

UMA is running an internship program under the Higher Education Science And Technology (HEST) Project mainly for science and technology students. This is intended to improve the skills of graduates from tertiary institutions by facilitating and supervising interns placed in industries. Recruitment is done from April to May of every year for the internship period of June to August.
