Introduction
The Welding and Metal Fabrication programme aims to enable trainees to obtain the competencies required for performing metal fabrication tasks such as applying safety rules and regulations; planning and organizing metal fabrication work; using hand tools for metal fabrication operations etc.
Trainees are expected to master and demonstrate knowledge and skills pertaining to the following:
- Apply safety rules and regulations
- Plan and organise metal fabrication work
- Use hand tools for metal fabrication operations
- Interpret welding signs and symbols as part of metal fabrication operations
- Apply workplace communication processes
- Operate portable metal fabrication power tools
- Assemble and test oxy-acetylene welding equipment etc.
Other disciplines include:
HIV and Aids awareness, numeracy and communication skills and Entrepreneurship.
