NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum Challenge – India

The NASSCOM Foundation is seeking applications for its NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum (NSIF) Challenge, which is a ‘Tech for Good’ platform that aims to drive technology-led innovation for the Base of the Pyramid (BoP) population.

The objective of the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum is to recognize and support Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) led innovations that have met a social development need or helped organizations achieve their social development objectives.

Thematic Categories

Education: Solutions include but are not limited to:

• Primary Education, Secondary Education & Higher Education
• Knowledge Dissemination/Awareness
• Skill Development
• Vocational Training
• Capacity building & training Programs
• Any other in line with the above
• Accessibility: Solutions include but are not limited to:
• Low cost solutions that use touch, voice and movement.
• Wearable safety devices.
• Voice to text solutions, online advocacy forums
• Technologies that create an enabling environment for Persons with Disabilities and render daily activities accessible. i.e- boarding a bus, walking and navigation, conversation, reading etc.
• E-learning solutions for children with learning disabilities have made education accessible to the masses.
• ICT based training for PwD’sHealth & Sanitation: Solutions include but are not limited to:

   

• Health & Sanitation
• ICT based innovations that bring affordable healthcare solutions to the masses
• Mobile technologies that provide vital health information to community members and health workers
• Maternity, Child Care & Old Age
• Women Health
• Hospital
• Other Well-being projects.
• Any other in line with the aboveEnvironment

  Financial Inclusion: Solutions in this category include but not limited to:

   

• ICT mediums to encourage and enable people to have the skill, knowledge or information about financial instruments.
• Solutions on Financial decision making/independence
• Any in line with the aboveOther Social Causes: Solutions include but not limited to:

   

• Solutions that address support child protection, safety, nutrition, and overall well-being
• Solutions that enable Women’s economic and social Empowerment
• Innovations supporting better public services and governance
• Any other ICT solutions addressing social issues affecting IndiaEligibility Criteria

  Not For Profit

• They should be Indian entities or foreign entities with a registered presence in India.
• They should be a registered under the Indian Trust Act, 1882, Societies Registration Act, 1860 or as a Section 8, Companies Act 2013.
• The innovation that is submitted for the award and grant must benefit India or a community in India.
• To be considered for the NSIF award the innovation/programme must be in at least the prototype stage.
• The organisation can be operational for less than one year for both the Grant and Challenge.
• The innovation/project entered by the organisation should not have won the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum challenge in the previous three years (Since 2015).For Profit / Social Enterprise

   

• To be considered a Social enterprise organisation should drive profits from pursuing only socially relevant activities and goals, with the profit being re-invested into driving social impact.
• To qualify as a Social enterprise, for the purpose of the Social Innovation Award and Grant, the annual turnover of the applicant organisation must not exceed INR 10,00,00,000 (10 crore/ 100 million).
• They should be Indian entities or foreign entities with a registered presence in India (or in the process of registering by 30th November 2017).
• The innovation that is submitted for the award and grant must benefit India or a community in India.
• To be considered for the NSIF award the innovation/programme must be in at least the prototype stage.
• The organisation can be operational for less than one year for both the Grant and Challenge.
• The innovation/programme entered by the organisation should not have won the NASSCOM
• Social Innovation Forum Challenge in the previous three years (Since 2015).Early Stage Entrepreneurs

   

• The individual/group of individuals should be Indian citizens.
• They should be a registered presence in India (or in the process of registering by 30th November 2017).
• The innovation that is submitted for the challenge must benefit India, or a community in India.
• If the applicant is an individual, he/she must be over the age of 18 to apply for the Challenge.
• The innovation in question must be in prototype stage to be considered for the Challenge.
• The innovation/programme entered by the organisation should not have won the NASSCOM Social Innovation Forum challenge in the previous three years ((Since 2015).Apply by 15th June.
