Job Summary: The National Pedagogy Project Officer will be tasked with planning, implementing and monitoring project activities related to pedagogy in order to contribute bringing about a paradigm shift in the way teaching and learning is organized in 5 National Teachers’ Colleges.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Actively participate in the planning, implementation and monitoring of the Teacher Training Education Project in general, and in the pedagogy component in particular.
- Participate in the Pedagogy Team meetings and related pedagogy working groups.
- Plan, implement and monitor, together with all stakeholders and the appointed working groups, the activities related to school practice, support supervision, action research and pedagogical projects:
- Tasked with the preparation of the administrative documents (justification, terms of reference, MoU,…) needed for the approval and organization of the activities o Preparation and delivery of quality documents such as attendance lists, reports, presentations, minutes, etc.
- Proper physical and electronic archiving of correspondence, reports, pictures and other project related documents
- Participate to the different education networks existing at the central level (monitoring and evaluation meetings,.) on relevant issues for the project.
- Participate to any other relevant project activities (e.g.: coordination meetings, preparation of Steering Committees, etc.).
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the National Pedagogy Project Officer job opportunity must hold a Masters degree in Education, in areas of pedagogy and teacher training
- A minimum of five years’ proven experience in teacher education and teacher training
- Significant experience in working in and with NGOs or in bi- or multilateral aid is an asset
- Proven expertise in student-centred Active Teaching & Learning approaches
- Proven experience in project management (preparation, implementation and follow-up of project activities)
- Extensive knowledge of the current secondary education reform in Uganda is an added advantage
- Excellent English writing skills
- Computer literacy skills i.e. proficiency in MS Office (excel, outlook, word and PowerPoint skills have to be on a proficient level) and internet
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills (interest in participatory approaches and team work)
- Willingness to work overtime and ability to bear stress
