About US:
The Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) was established under Section 42 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production) Act 2013 and incorporated under the Company’s Act 2012. It is a limited liability company wholly owned by the Government of Uganda. The overall function of UNOC is; “To handle the State’s Commercial interests in the Oil and Gas industry.”
Job Summary: The Production Engineer will evaluate and monitor production and efficiency of subsurface equipment; and develop methods to improve hydrocarbon extraction.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all phases of well completions and production operations throughout the life cycle of a well.
- Provide production engineering inputs required for the preparation of Field Development Plans and Reservoir Management Plans.
- Design surface facilities including well completion systems like artificial lift and sand control systems and coordinate their installation.
- Identify wells for production enhancements and recommend wells for recompletion or abandonment.
- Maximize daily petroleum production and ultimate recoveries from producing assets and ensure that production goals and cost targets are achieved.
- Evaluate partners’ production engineering proposals and participate in meetings with Partners and Authorities, when required.
- Coordinate well testing and production operations in accordance with the Company policies and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Monitor and analyze well productivity, surface equipment performance and recommend appropriate interventions to ensure optimal performance.
- Support the selection of prudent service providers for production operations to optimize costs of wells and surface facilities.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant for the Uganda National Oil Company Limited (UNOC) Production Engineer job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degrees (Hons) in Geosciences, Structural, Mechanical, or Manufacturing engineering or any relevant degree.
- Master’s degree in Petroleum Geoscience, Petroleum Engineering or Production Engineering or any other relevant master’s degree will be an added advantage.
- At least three years of relevant experience in Oil & Gas industry preferably in production operations.
- Be skilled in integrated reservoir modelling and simulation. Have knowledge of development and production operations, Health & Safety standards and operational procedures.
- Substantial experience in dynamic modelling of petroleum reservoirs, history matching and production data analysis using PETREL, AVOCET, OFM (or similar software).
- Ability to work independently, but also work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team environment to develop appropriate work programmes.
