Job Summary: The Metering Engineer will be responsible for ensuring safe systems of work and compliance with Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental (HSSE) requirements. The role involves technical responsibilities in both the project execution phase and the production phase, including the optimization of metering processes, preparation of technical documentation, and ensuring accurate and reliable metering data for operational reporting.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • HSSE:
    • Lead in ensuring safe work systems and conditions.
    • Participate in HSE meetings, risk assessments, audits, and emergency drills.
    • Ensure compliance with company HSE policies and initiatives.
  • Technical Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with vendors for initial configuration and commissioning of Multi-Phase Flow Meters (MPFM).
    • Implement and manage Remote Metering Monitoring (RMM) systems.
    • Coordinate with Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) for metering guidelines and submission of detailed calculations.
    • Support digital solutions engineering and CWE (Smart room) development.
    • Assist in pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up activities, and optimization of metering processes.
    • Manage flow meters and ensure accuracy and reliability of metering data for operational reporting and environmental impact monitoring.
    • Work closely with the Laboratory for sampling campaigns.
    • Conduct metering reviews/audits and gather lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Interfaces:
    • Coordinate with Well Performance, production teams, reservoir engineers, and maintenance teams.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • A Degree in Petroleum, Process, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of six years of experience in process engineering, maintenance instrumentation, or field operation in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proficiency in oil and gas operations.
  • Analytical skills for data analysis and abnormal condition recognition.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Knowledge of API MPMS, ISO 5168, thermodynamic & process software, and real-time data systems.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and maintenance.
