About US:
Chemonics International Inc., a US-based international development organization, seeks an Orphans and Vulnerable Children Management Information System (OVC MIS) Specialist for the anticipated USAID five-year Integrated Child and Youth Development (ICYD) Activity in Uganda. This activity will aim to improve youth learning outcomes (P1-P4 reading in local language and English), while ensuring that children and youth are safe and healthy in their community and learning environments. Specifically, this activity will improve learning outcomes, address primary school retention, provide technical assistance to orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) service providers, and employ high-impact local partnerships to accomplish the activity’s objectives. This position will be based in Kampala, Uganda with intermittent travel throughout the country.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with ICYD’s local OVC partners to use case management systems and tools aligned with the national OVC MIS;
- Ensure that ICYD’s internal monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems align with the national OVC MIS;
- Support OVC MIS data collection and quality assurance efforts, resulting in comprehensive data entry on national OVC service delivery;
- Support the Ministry of Gender, Labor, and Social Development (MGLSD)’s efforts to enhance the national OVS MIS, in collaboration with an IT service provider.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or other advanced degree in information management or related field preferred;
- Minimum seven years of experience in data management and MEL roles required, with significant experience using data to drive organizational decision-making;
- In-depth knowledge of MGLSD’s OVC MIS and the Ugandan social protection sector, including experience working with local OVC service providers strongly preferred;
- Knowledge of USAID and/or PEPFAR funding and its contractual and reporting requirements required – experience working on USAID-funded health or education programs strongly preferred;
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
