Polytechnic Of Namibia Environmental Health Sciences Programme Course
The Environmental Health Sciences Programme in the Namibia University of Science and Technology prepares quality professional health practitioners through a four (4) year Professional Bachelor Programme in Environmental Health Sciences. The programme strengthens practical exposure of the students, ensures quality of the teaching-learning process, and enhances cooperation with relevant industries and other academic institutions.

The Department of Environmental Health Sciences believes that the essences of public health are the primary prevention of diseases. It contributes to the maintenance and improvements of the health of all people through global leadership in research and training in Environmental Health.
PRACTICAL EXPOSURE
During the four years, students complete different practicals: visits to water treatment and wastewater treatment plants, fish factories, mines, Abattoirs for (slaughter animals and poultry). Activities like: Occupational health and safety measurements , malaria spraying training , building inspections, shop inspections, food quality control auditing, court visits, sanitation structures, disease surveillance, outbreak investigations, pollution measurements, port health and pest control activities are also part of the programme.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND SERVICES
Community service is part of the Environmental Health Sciences programme. The following services are delivered to the community: Soup Kitchen for orphans and old age homes, Cleaning up campaigns, Faculty Health – Health education, TB conduct tracing, Measurement for industry and Workshops to the community.

Environmental Health Scientists play a vital role in preventative health care to prevent the outbreak of diseases, as well as in health management systems as an integral part of the National Health Care programme in communities.
Admission Requirements
25 points including a minimum C-symbol on NSSC(O), total of 18 points on the evaluation scale for Physical Science, Mathematics and Biology, in a combination of symbols on NSSC Higher or ordinary level or both and D- symbol in English.
