Job Title:      Principal Personal Secretary

Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda

About US:

The Uganda Law Reform Commission is established under Article 248(1) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda. Its primary mandate is to study and keep under constant review the Acts and all other laws comprising the laws of Uganda with a view to making recommendations for their systematic improvement, development, modernisation and reform.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Taking dictation, typing, transcribing and presenting accurate and error-free work.
  • Receiving incoming mail and supervising the dispatch of outgoing        mail.
  • Attending to callers either in person or on telephone.
  • Offering timely responses to inquires and correspondence to and from the office.
  • Organizing meetings, and taking minutes of meetings.
  • Ensuring that relevant documents for meetings and speeches are produced on time and properly organized.
  • Managing office appointments.
  • Managing office records in accordance with established security and records management procedures.
  • Ensuring cleanliness and orderliness of the office.
  • Requisitioning and managing office stationery and equipment.
  • Drafting letters of a routine nature.
  • Supervising support personnel for the assigned office.
  • Performing any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Secretarial Studies or its equivalent from a recognized university/institution.
  • Certificate in Customer Care.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant working experience serving at Senior Personal Secretary in Government or equivalent experience from a reputable organization.
  • Computer using Word Processing Package, spread sheets and data-base management.
  • Typesetting.
  • Principles of Accounts
  • Use of various office machines like fax, photocopiers, scanners, etc.
  • Record keeping.
