About US:
The Education Service Commission (ESC) is established by article 167 91) of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and article 168 (1) sets out its functions, authority and autonomy in implementing its mandate. The vision of Education Service Commission is to see “quality education delivered by efficient and effective education service personnel.”
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper accountability of all institution resources;
- Ensure the effective and efficient performance of both academic and administrative functions of the institution;
- Ensure that research work is done and appropriately disseminated;
- Ensure the periodic review of the institution’s curricula and programmes;
- Initiate and prepare development and work plans for the institution;
- Perform public relations functions for the institution; Secretary to the (Governing Council)/Board of Governors;
- Responsible for admissions in conformity with approved policies;
- Responsible for curriculum management and implementation;
- Responsible for staff appraisals including, compiling and submitting annual performance reports;
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Master’s Degree in any Engineering or related field;
- A Certificate or Diploma in Technical Teacher Education (CTTE/DTTE);
- A Minimum of 12 years teaching experience, 3 of which should have been at the level of Deputy Principal;
- Must have at least one teaching specialty;
- Must be registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports;
- Registration with a Technological/Engineering Profession body is an added advantage.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons to fill administrative posts for the Centers of Excellence under the Uganda Skills Development Project and Albertine Regional Sustainable Development Project in the Ministry of Education and Sports. Applications should be submitted in triplicate on Education Service Commission form 3 (1998) to the Secretary, Education Service Commission, and P.O. Box 7196, Kampala.
The application forms are obtainable from the Education Service Commission Offices 1st floor Farmers’ House, Parliament Avenue Kampala, Ministry of Education and Sports Headquarters and District Service Commission offices.
Applications should bear the preferred institution, title of the post as well as the reference number specified against the vacancy. Applicants should attach all the necessary supporting documents and recent passport size photographs. Only qualifications from recognized institutions will be considered. Serving officers MUST route their applications through their Heads of Institutions/Departments, who should be advised of the closing date to avoid delay. Applications that are not properly routed will not be considered.
