About US:
TPO Uganda is a local Ugandan NGO that has been operating in the country for 25 years. Our programs comprise interventions organised around the following themes; Care and protection of OVC; child protection, livelihoods support, mental health and psychosocial support, response and prevention of all forms of violence against women and children as well as emergency response and humanitarian action. TPO Uganda is active in 33 districts in the region and is a member of several partnerships and coordination mechanisms in the country.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Program Manager is the convergence point person for all TPO projects in Uganda.
- S/he provides programmatic oversight to Project Coordinators and Team Leaders that ensures that all projects are delivered within an efficient operational framework.
- The Program Manager will also ensure that all projects are receiving adequate professional support from HQ and will identify and recommend specific courses of action that facilitate projects to deliver on their intended goals and outcomes.
- The Program Manager will directly work with the Deputy Country Director on issues of strategic growth, organisational development and institutional strengthening.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal applicant must hold a Master’s Degree in a development related field with a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields, social sciences, social work, psychology, development studies or a related.
- Must possess at least 5 years consistent and demonstrable experience managing a portfolio of multiple projects in at least 3 of the following program areas; child rights/ child protection/ psychosocial, mental health, livelihoods and food security, disaster risk reduction or any related program area excellent written and oral communication skills, strategic analysis, team building and people management skills, decision making skills as well as impeccable self-organisation and work planning skills
Program Manager competencies include;
- Advocacy and networking skills.
- Partnership building proposal development
- Project idealisation and implementation.
- Project monitoring and evaluation
- Action research and application of research findings for program development.
