About US:
Action for Health Uganda (A4HU) is a youth empowerment organization dedicated to mainstream young peoples’ engagement in socio-economic development and promoting Sexual and Reproductive Health and rights (SRHR). A4HU was registered in October 2017 as a new entity to take over the operations of DSW (Deutsche Stiftung Weltbevoelkerung) in Uganda. For the past 18 years DSW has supported the implementation of a portfolio of projects to improve sexual and reproductive health of people of young people in Uganda. Action 4 Health operate mobile rural outreach services using its Youth Truck, which give access to information and Training to vulnerable young people in hard-to-reach areas and supporting the peer-led outreach events.
Job Summary: The Programmes Manager will support programme-related fundraising, project implementation, reporting and capacity-building initiatives.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: Supervise the implementation of A4HU’s diverse projects addressing poverty reduction, sexual reproductive health and youth empowerment;
- Ensure sound financial management and quality project outputs
- Ensure high quality and timely reports are submitted to donors;
- Promote and manage partnerships with local and national Government institutions;
- Liaise with national and international stakeholders, including donors and international NGOs;
- Seek funding to sustain and expand A4HU’s project portfolio;
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Masters degree in social science or relevant development field
- Seven years of relevant experience in working with a non-profit organization, in a similar position, of which 3 must be at managerial level
- Knowledge of Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights and Global Health, family planning and global health (required)
- Experience in the management of EU and USAID funded grants
- Excellent communication skills in spoken and written English
- Proof of successful grant application and implementation Strong analytical, strategic thinking, research and writing
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Flexibility in responding to changing work priorities and tight deadlines
- Excellent problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Strong IT skills (research applications, Word, Excel, Internet, Outlook, PowerPoint)
