Job Summary: The Project Accountant will assist the project manager and the entire project team in Finance-related tasks and ensure grant accountability compliance standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement all project financial and accounting/reporting procedures.
- Monitor project budget and manage financial planning activities;
- Prepare and present project financial reports periodically and whenever required;
- Financial management of the project and providing follow-up at a regional level;
- Ensure consolidation, control, reporting and analysis of financial and accounting data for the project;
- Manage the project procurement logistics matters;
- Manage petty cash transactions and cash flows;
- Maintain records of all transactions and raise payments; ensuring that the codes & amounts are accurate;
- Respond to all grant accountability queries by auditors and donors;
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a University degree in fields related to Accounting with a professional Accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA)
- A Minimum of five (5) years’ of experience in a project accounting/ finance role.
- Very good understanding of international organizations or NGOs fund/ grant accountability with knowledge of EU reporting standards;
- Knowledge of accounting programs, excel, power point and word;
- Mature, good communicator and team player;
- Able to work under stressful conditions, overtime working, and undertaking field missions.
