About US:

Communication for Development Foundation Uganda (CDFU) with support from UNWOMEN is implementing the Make Happiness Not Violence Campaign in 20 districts of Uganda as part of the Joint UN Ending Violence against Women and Girls (EVAWG) programme funded by the Government of Sweden, and as part of the EU-UN Spotlight Initiative to eliminate violence against women and girls. The project aims to promote favorable social norms, attitudes and behaviors at community and individual levels to prevent VAWG and improve SRHR in Uganda.


Job Summary: The Project Coordinator End VAWG is responsible for the day-to-day management and implementation of the project. Specifically, she will lead the design and implement innovative, multi-sectoral and multi-media outreach and advocacy interventions aimed at raising awareness, improving knowledge and challenging social gender norms and attitudes regarding Violence against women and girls. She will report to Executive Director.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supervise Project Officers at the district level and oversee implementation of project activities in all districts
  • Represent CDFU in work plans and meetings at various levels
  • Liaise with district officials (Community Development Officers, Child and Family Protection Officers, Probation Officers, District Health Officers) in project activities
  • Take lead and oversee training of district stakeholders in SASA! methodology to End Violence Against Women and HIV/AIDS prevention
  • Take lead in design, implementation and monitoring of mass media, including radio talk shows, radio dramas, print materials, among others.
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Compile success stories documented at the district level
  • Be part of the district GBV referral network
  • Any other duties as assigned by the ED/ CDFU Management

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A Master‘s degree in either of the following; Women and Gender studies, Human rights, Development studies, Social sciences, Community development or related field
  • Should have at least 5 years’ experience in implementing Gender and Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights work
  •  Demonstrate knowledgeable practice of working with districts, non- governmental and community based organizations as well as government departments.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work as a team, good presentation, writing, facilitation and analytical skills, computer skills of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
  •  Good programme formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation skills.
  • Good knowledge of Gender equality and gender related laws and policies will be an added advantage and prior knowledge of SASA! Methodology will be an added advantage
