Partners for Community Health and Development Organisation (PACHEDO) is a development organisation that is duly registered as a National Non-Governmental Organisation and has been working in Uganda since 2007. PACHEDO is currently operating in Acholi, Lango and Teso Sub Regions with the overall goal of responding to humanitarian emergencies and development needs. PACHEDO is operational in the communities of Gulu, Amuru, Lamwo and Kole Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Health/Nutrition, WASH, Protection; Food Security and Livelihoods; with the Head office located in Gulu City.
Job Summary: The Project Coordinator-WAYREP will mainly contribute towards the Women and Youth Resilience Project (WAYREP)’s overall Objective; strengthen the resilience of women, girls and youth in Uganda, contributing to a life free from violence. This will be done through planning, coordination, monitoring and implementation of Women and Youth Resilience Project (WAYREP) in line with applicable technical approaches and CARE’s National strategy. Oversee roll out of best practices and models in a manner that promotes project ownership and sustainability and provide leadership to the management of the project while working closely with the project field staff, finance, MEAL and senior management.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Project planning:
- Prepare period specific project activity implementation work plans and budgets to guide implementation.
- Orient the project staff and ensure that they adopt the right project plans and budgets
- Ensure quality assurance in the roll out of project models and approaches by adhering to project design and documents.
- Identify the different project stakeholders to work with
- Coordinate, oversee and work with the different technical resource persons and stakeholders of WAYREP project.
- Identify and adopt appropriate strategies for project implementation
Project implementation:
- Supervise and monitor ongoing activities under the different thematic areas of the project as implemented by the project staff.
- Track and manage budget lines for the projects activities.
- Organize and attend the different relevant coordination meetings for the project on behalf of PACHEDO.
- With support of project officers and M&E, Organize project review meetings with CBTs, CBFs, local leaders, government officials and service providers for sharing and learning and documentation of lessons, good practices and success of the project
- Organize sharing and learning sessions for CBTs, CBFs and community leaders
- Conduct on-spot field visits to the youth and women spaces and monitor the project activities.
- Compile activity reports from project officers to make periodic project reports
- Advocate and lobby for support from other stakeholders including government for successful implementation of the project.
- Represent the organization in appropriate fora related to the project work.
- Ensure that all the stakeholders of the project including government and other service providers get proper understanding of the project.
Technical support and training:
- Identify local level capacity needs and support capacity building activities for the WAYREP project staff to improve the quality of project delivery to the beneficiaries.
- Coordinate and Organize training and capacity building activities for the project stakeholders including the different project staff, community structures, collaborating partners and beneficiaries on the project approaches and models.
- Organize exposure visits for project beneficiaries.
- Participate in development /adaption of training curriculum/manuals and other information materials required for implementation of the project.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to project staff and structures involved in project implementation to strengthen their capacities.
- Support Identification of technical experts to train the project beneficiary groups in the areas of VSLA, Financial literacy, SGBV, FAL, SASA among others.
- In consultation with PACHEDO management, Liaise with CARE technical team for other relevant capacity enhancement support for the project.
- Support resource mobilization efforts of the organization for building on and sustainability of the project achievements.
- Take on any other work related duties as assigned/given by the supervisor or any other member of the senior management.
Partnership and networking:
- Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners and other stakeholders to popularize the project at the District level.
- Participate in key field donor engagements and technical working forums at district, Region and National levels when applicable.
- Point of contact for consultation on issues to do with WAYREP Project
- Work closely with relevant municipality departments like Community services.
Research, Documentation and Evidence building:
- Effectively document all information related to project successes, innovations and best practices and disseminate through appropriate mechanisms.
- Ensure identification of research areas and document key issues for possible research opportunities.
- Support processes of project baselines and evaluation
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields but preferably Masters in social sciences and Development
- Five years of practical experience in NGO work in Coordination of GBV, livelihoods related programmes including SASA, RMM/B. At least three of which must have been involved in program planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
- Good Training facilitation and coordination skills.
- Experience in development of Proposals/concept papers development for fund raising
- Excellent Research, monitoring and evaluation skills
- Ability to produce timely, accurate, compliant and quality reports.
- Able to stand above denominational diversities –Race, Religion, Gender etc.
- Highly motivated to achieve quality results and service
- Demonstrated accountability and integrity
- Confidentiality management.
- Ability to communicate effectively especially in English and Luo
- A good team player
- Ability to work with communities
