About US:

TPO Uganda is a local Ugandan NGO that has been operating in the country for 25 years. Our programs comprise interventions organised around the following themes; Care and protection of OVC; child protection, livelihoods support, mental health and psychosocial support, response and prevention of all forms of violence against women and children as well as emergency response and humanitarian action. TPO Uganda is active in 33 districts in the country and is a member of several partnerships and coordination mechanisms in the country.

Job Summary: The Project Manager will be responsible for providing programmatic, managerial and coordination support to District Project Coordinators (DPC’s) spread across approximately 19 districts. He/She will provide backstopping support to District Project Coordinators, supporting them to coordinate district specific activities, manage CSO partnerships, attain project targets, liaison with local government technocrats and strengthening implementation frameworks at community and local government level.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal applicant must hold a Master’s Degree in international development, social sciences, public health, or a closely related field is required.
  • Technical ability to support DPC’s with technical leadership, align activities to overall program objectives.
  • Ability to mentor, supervise and support DPC’s in over 19 districts to consolidate district specific reports for onward submission to the Deputy Chief of Party, ensuring quality timeliness and operational efficiency at district level.
  • Familiarity with PEPFAR OVC technical elements, OVC and youth programmatic design and service delivery frameworks.
  • Ability to manage and build capacity of project staff, and multiple teams comprising CSOs and local government counterparts.
  • Experience with child welfare and protection programs, systems strengthening, Capacity building, economic strengthening, service delivery, quality improvement and policy development is required.
  • Minimum 8 years of senior project management experience, reporting and proposal development as well as technical support supervision of complex integrated OVC programs.
