Research Scholarship – Practice-led PhD in the Arts
Research Scholarship Practice-led PhD in the Arts: Scholarship amount – £8500 per annum (including £1000 research expenses budget) and tuition fees for 3 years.
The School of The Arts invites applications for a full time research student bursary in the area of: Screen As Site: Contemporary Screen Technology and Interdisciplinary Practices in The Arts.
Applications are welcome from any discipline. The School has particular research expertise in Design, Fine Art and Performance.
The concepts of the screen, the encounter of ideas and work and the site as context exist to be tested.
By exploring these mobile and mutable spaces into which researchers can enter into a dialogue, this project aims to developing cutting-edge approaches to arts practices and critical theory.
Aims
To explore the potential for interdisciplinarity between practices and theory in the arts, communications and design and the landscape of screens which populate contemporary life
- To examine how different creative practices which explore issues of site and screen might enrich experience and understanding of the arts
- To advance knowledge and understanding in the concepts and creative application of cutting edge screen/image technology and to bridge the gap in access to new ideas
- To explore ways through which screen technology can be used to generate creative outcomes outside the conventions of the gallery settingIt is intended that interviews will be held week commencing: 13 November.
