Richard Van Loon Scholarships for African Students at Carleton University in Canada 2017-2018
The Carleton University is now accepting applications for the Richard Van Loon Scholarships to pursue undergraduate as well as a graduate program for the year 2018. Students from African countries are eligible to apply for this scholarship program.
The Richard J. Van Loon Scholarship, valued at $5,000 for the 2017/2018 academic year, is awarded annually to an outstanding international student from an African country.
Carleton is a public university that offers more than 65 academic programs across a wide range of disciplines. Carleton has been included in Canadian and international college and university rankings. In 2016–2017, Carleton was ranked 501–600 in the Times Higher Education World University rankings and fell out of the rankings in the Academic Ranking of World Universities. In 2017, Maclean’s magazine ranked Carleton as the 5th best comprehensive university in Canada.
Course Level: Eligible recipients will be full-time students proceeding from one year to another in any program of study at Carleton University
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded in any of the subjects offered by the university.
Scholarship Award: The Richard J. Van Loon Scholarship, valued at $5,000 for the 2017/2018 academic year, is awarded annually to an outstanding international student from an African country.
Number of Scholarships: Two scholarships will be awarded.
Scholarship can be taken in Canada
Eligibility: The following criteria must be met in order for applicants to be eligible for the scholarship:
- You must be a citizen of an African country.
- You must be an international student, who is required to have a valid Study Permit for Canada.
- You must be registered as a full-time student at Carleton University and be successfully proceeding from one year to another in any program of study.
- You must be in good academic standing.
Nationality: Students from African countries (Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Comoros, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Kenya, Lesotho, Liberia, Libya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mauritius, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Tunisia, Uganda, Western Sahara, Zambia and Zimbabwe) are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.
College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have their previous degree.
English Language Requirements: Applicants whose first language is not English are usually required to provide evidence of proficiency in English at the higher level required by the University.
