Purpose :

This qualification was developed after consultation with stakeholders within the law fraternity and higher education institutions, as well as specialists in the field of commerce and industry. The focus is to equip students with an introduction to South African law and commerce, its procedures and the necessary skills to enable them to apply this knowledge in the South African legal/business context. Including the management of human resources, public relations, advertising, promotions, portfolios, to name a few The curriculum is designed to equip students with a set of core competencies (knowledge, skills and attitude) necessary to pursue a career in law and/or commerce. Furthermore, it provides the student with the knowledge base, theory, methodology of discipline and application relevant to the field of study. The electives allow for specialisation in the different fields of law and commerce.

Admission Requirements :

The qualification is open to students who completed Southern Business School’s Certificate/Higher Certificate in Management or Higher Certificate in Paralegal Studies and/or Diploma in Management; or
National Senior Certificate: The minimum admission requirement for degree studiesis a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with a minimum of 40% in English as certified by Umalusi, and
An achievement rating of 4 (Adequate Achievement, 50-59%) or better in four Subjects from the designated subject list:
