Job Summary: The Senior Project Officer – Child Protection and Care will provide technical support to the country program to advance high-quality child protection and care programming in line with Catholic Relief Services (CRS) program quality principles and standards, donor guidelines, and industry best practices. In addition, your technical knowledge and support will contribute to documenting effective child protection and care programming in Uganda and growing the Country program’s child protection portfolio.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for child protection and care-related program design, implementation, and reporting outlined in the project DIP and narrative.
- Implement capacity strengthening initiatives in child protection and care for the social service workforce. Support the development of learning and training strategies and curriculums.
- Participate in technical working groups and facilitate linkages with departments within government at the national and sub-national level and with other development partners to ensure strategies/activities complement ongoing initiatives in the country.
- Contribute to knowledge management and learning through collecting and analyzing program data, evaluating strategic activities, assisting with measuring project impact, capturing, and sharing lessons learned and best practices.
- Contribute to country program efforts to pre-position CRS for growth opportunities in Child Protection and Care by supporting resource mobilization efforts like developing concept notes and proposals.
- Establish and maintain relationships with donors, peer organizations, research, and other institutions in the sector.
- Contribute to developing and implementing standards, tools, and best practices that ensure a cross-sectoral approach, integrating disability inclusion, gender, protection mainstreaming, and risk reduction.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Senior Project Officer – Child Protection and Care should hold a Degree in Social Work and Social Administration or Social Sciences required.
- Masters or postgraduate qualification in Social Work and Social Administration, Social Sciences, Public Health, Project Planning, and Management or any other related field is an added advantage
- Five years of experience with Child protection and care programming
- Experience in managing moderately complex projects, preferably with an international NGO.
- Good experience in project management, including project design and budget management.
- Experience engaging with government stakeholders and other partner organizations
- MEAL skills and experience required.
- Staff management experience and abilities that are conducive to a learning environment.
- Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information management systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound judgments and decisions and offer innovative solutions
- Strong relationship management abilities. Ability to relate to people at all levels, internally and externally. Strategic in how you approach each relationship.
- Good presentation and facilitation skills
- Proactive, observant, resourceful, solutions-oriented, results and detail-oriented.
- Required/Desired Foreign Language: Knowledge of other languages in the country is an added advantage.
