The Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) is a Ugandan government agency that provides deposit insurance to depositors in Ugandan Banks, Credit Institutions and Microfinance Deposit-taking Institutions (MDIs).
Job Summary: The Security Assistant will maintain a safe and secure environment for customers and Fund employees by providing protective service work to ensure the security of people and property while adhering to established rules and regulations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Screening and verifying all individuals as they enter the Fund premises.
- Monitoring the fire alarm and door prop panels.
- Managing emergency situations (e.g. health, fire, bomb threats, disciplines incidents, etc.).
- Confronting and excluding any undesirable individuals from the Fund premises.
- Maintaining accurate and legible security Activity Logs, Guest Logs, and Failure to Show ID logs, and turning in copies of these logs to the Area Head and Security mailboxes.
- Liaising with relevant security organs to assist Fund employees when needed.
- Providing excellent customer satisfaction.
- Conducts surveillance of Fund premises, grounds and activities.
- Patrols hallways, stairwells, restrooms and parking area.
- Checks windows, doors and entrances to secure Fund premises.
- Maintains a visual of the front door. greet, screen and sign-in all visitors.
- Deters admittance of unauthorized persons to the premises.
- Monitors vehicles entering Fund premises.
- Reports suspicious conditions or disturbances to administration.
- Escorts disruptive visitors to locations specified by administration.
- Minimizes physical confrontations.
- Operates central Control Security System platform.
- Monitors closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras and emergency radio.
- Reports any non-working equipment to administration.
- Maintains proper functioning of x-ray detection machine.
- Conducts metal detection and x-ray detection screening as assigned.
- Assists with fire drills and emergency evacuations.
- Witnesses all searches in the Fund premises.
- Assists with the loading and unloading when assigned.
- Provides and supervises security during sports events and other Fund activities, as needed.
- Performs other work-related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate for the Deposit Protection Fund of Uganda (DPF) Security Assistant job placement must hold an A ‘level certificate and a maximum of an ordinary diploma is essential.
- Five years of progressive experience gained via service in the police, military, or a government security agency, preferably in an operational environment is essential.
- Experience of working under stressful conditions is desired.
- Basic first aid training is desired.
- Experienced in diving under local conditions with a valid driver’s permit is desired.
- Those with bachelor’s degrees and above or equivalent need not apply.
- Significant standing, walking, running, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing and pulling.
- Possess physical and mental stamina and ability commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.

- Ability to recognize and identify activities or situations, which have or may become a problem or emergency.
