MUJHU Research Collaboration – MUJHU Care Ltd, a Kampala based equal opportunities HIV/AIDS, TB and related clinical and implementation science research Organization with more than 350 employees is seeking interested, committed and reliable professionals with the described qualifications to apply for the following positions in the support of the following studies: MIRASOL clinical trial, a four year US Department of Defense funded project and EDCTP funded PREPARE & WOMANPOWER consortium activities lead by MUJHU as well as cross-cutting MUJHU activities.
Job Summary: The Study Nurse/Counselor will be working closely with other health professionals/research staff and will provide counselling and nursing care to study participants.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain GCP and HSP certification
- Maintain knowledge of the currently approved study protocol/s
- Provide nursing care to study participants which may include one or more of the following: Receive and register study participants and guide them through study procedures for that visit Take and record vital signs
- Complete relevant study participant forms and logs.
- Perform phlebotomy and other laboratory specimen collection procedures from study participants and complete laboratory forms.
- Screen potential participants for eligibility
- Provide family planning services
- Conduct group health education sessions
- Provide immunization to study participants
- Provide study specific nursing duties in addition to above in accordance with the study protocol.
- Provide counselling as required
- Participate in screening and enrollment of participants.
- Participate in any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by the relevant authorities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must be a qualified nurse/midwife (nursing/midwifery diploma or higher qualification) with counselling experience with a current practicing licence
- A minimum of two years’ working experience in a busy health institution.
- Previous work experience in a clinical research environment and/or with HIV, TB and/or MCH clinical care would be a strong advantage.
- The desired person must be able and willing to work as part of a team and possess strong written and oral communication skills.
- The desired person would also possess a passion for MUJHU’s mission and an interest to develop experience and a possible career in clinical research.
- Commitment, reliability, and attention to detail are essential for this position.
