Shoprite Group of Companies offers about 1200 bursaries per year to deserving candidates. They look for individuals who is focused on getting ahead in life, people who enjoy a challenge and finds the retail/consumer industry exciting. For more than 15 years, Shoprite has aided talented young individuals to reach their dreams. They have given bursaries in Pharmacy, Business Management, CA Accounting, Accounting, Retail and much more.
The last few years Shoprite has created an astounding 8500 new jobs, aiding the communities while growing to be the largest employer within the FMCG Industry (Fast Moving Consumer Goods). Shoprite is not only one of the largest food retailers within Africa but furthermore a company build on responsible values, socially uplifting communities and rewarding its personnel. Providing affordable, low priced shopping and stabilizing the economy.
Not only candidates from South Africa can apply, but also Nigeria, Angola, Namibia, and Zambia. They have grown considerably, from a mere 41 bursaries per year to more than 250 bursaries per year. Their bursaries are full study bursaries, covering costs between R35 000 up to R60 000 per year. These amounts differ depending on the area of study, as well as vacation work.
Shoprite is known to be one of the most stable organizations within Africa. Therefore successful candidates can rest assured of a permanent employment, after completion of their studies. This is also one of the requirements of their bursaries.
The study areas that do require internships are no problem, as Shoprite includes career-specific training to their bursary candidates. For pharmacy students, they offer a place within one of their 128 pharmacies. This allows candidates to complete their internships. For students studying management, they have a trainee management program, which aids in preparing them for store managers. All CA field candidates can be placed within Shoprite’s SAICA approved CA training program for their internship, as article clerks.

If you are currently still in grade 12 and would like to apply, please do so. First-year and second-year students in these fields of study can also apply.

- Level 5 for English

- Live in Africa
