Short courses on Survey designs and Sample size calculation from 26th February to 2nd March 2018

Sokoine University of Agriculture Laboratory for Interdisciplinary Statistical Analysis (SUALISA) would like to announce to the SUA community and to the general public that it would be offering short courses on survey designs and Sample size calculation on 26th February 2018 to 2nd March  2018 at iAGRI building between 4pm and 6pm. You are all invited to attend.

ABSTRACT
As researchers (PhD students, masters students and instructors), we often faces problems when it comes to a choice of a sample size needed for a study. This is a problem to researchers from all the disciplines (Economics, Development Studies, Business Forestry, Animal Sciences, Vert and the rest. Too few subjects/items could jeopardize the study findings leading to non-rejection of the proposed hypothesis and ending up with wrong conclusions. At the same time improper adherence to the principles of survey designs could also increase the sampling error leading again to the same problem.

Unfortunately most of us choose a sample size and collet the survey data carelessly and proudly draw conclusions from our studies without ensuring that our studies have adhered to such principles. This is a problem to both the students and the supervisors (experience from SUALISA!!!)

An expert from SUALISA would be discussing among other things key steps for survey designs and the principles of sample size calculation. Come for listening and/or discussing such interesting issues in the academia world.
You will be introduced to among other things, different sample size formulae, and the logic behind them and where and how should they be used.

Registration
The registration fee is 10,000/=Tshs, per a course. Registration would be made upon your arrival in a venue at iAGRI building.
