Job Summary: The Silo Controller is responsible for maintaining efficient, hygienic and low-cost operations of the grain handling facility and applying silos management best practices in handling the inventory thereof.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain the inventory of all the raw material in the silos and keep proper records
- Prepare daily reports on the inventory movement by type
- Keep records of all stocks movement and prepare graphs, charts and reports
- Develop traceability plan of all the produce received by capturing the details of the origin, location of storage and end recipient
- Support in setting up of the quality standards and enforce adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices policy
- Develop a program to monitor and control infestation in and around the silos and enforce adherence
- Monitor and ensure that all material sent to the silo meets the required quality standard and is of the right moisture content
- Monitor the stored condition of the stored products and to prevent any deterioration on quality
- Support the ongoing EOHS, food safety and continuous improvement program
- Maintain high standards of cleaning within the grain storage area while observing proper and safe handling of chemicals in control of pests and rodents
- Maintain data on usage of utilities including power, water, diesel
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science. He or she should have at least 3 (three) years working experience in quality management in a busy food industry, preferably grain handling facility or milling. He or she candidate must be knowledgeable in food safety principles, HACCP, traceability as well as insects’ life cycle and control.
- Furthermore, the ideal candidate must have the ability to do mathematical calculations on volume, density, weight, trigonometry and height estimates as well as keep records.
- The ideal candidate must be a team player and also have good planning, communication, interpersonal and decision-making skills.
