St. John’s University of Tanzania (SJUT) is owned by the Anglican Church of Tanzania (ACT). The Mazengo campus is located at Kikuyu area in Dodoma Municipality, about 3.5km southwest of the town centre along the Mtera-Iringa highway. The University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following positions:

1. Job Title: DRIVER II – (1 Post)

(a)Reports to: Director of Human Resource Management and Administration (DHRMA)

(b)Duty Station: SJUT Main Campus, Mazengo – Dodoma

(c)Job Summary: Driving University vehicles and other duties pertaining to transport office duties.

(d)Qualification: Holder of Form IV secondary Education with passes in Kiswahili and English or an experienced driver with a long experience in a recognized institution. He/She must have a valid Class C Driving License with working experience of two (2) years. Possession of Trade test Grade II/Drivers Grade II Certificate from recognized Institutions such as NIT or VETA will be an added advantage.

(e)Experience: With a minimum of three (3) years working experience in a high profile office.

(f)Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The Driver shall specifically be responsible, for:

(i)Driving institutional vehicles;

(ii)Maintains logbooks;

(iii)Responsible for safekeeping of the vehicle and tools and entrusted to him/she;

(iv)Maintains disciplined behaviour and proper conduct in rendering services to his/her assignees;

(v)Maintains cleanliness of the vehicle and tools;

(vi)Carryout minor mechanical repairs;

(vii)Reports promptly any defect or problems detected in the vehicle; and

(viii)Performs messengerial duties such as dispatching documents/letters, collecting mail and any other duties as may be assigned by superior.

(g)Salary Scale: Staff salary rank according to SJUT Scheme of Service

(h)Tenure: Local permanent contract and pensionable.
