Few aviation academies in the EAC region boast the latest state-of-the-art aircraft equipped with the best Navigation systems as the ones at the EACAA. The training equipment is based at Soroti Airport which, in terms of air navigation facilities, is second only to Entebbe International Airport (EIA). 

The academy is equipped with;

1800 metre long tarmac runway supplemented by 770 metre murram crosswind/short field runway.

A fully equipped Air traffic control tower with VHF and UHF radio communication.

Droppler/VOR/DME (VHF Omni Directional Radio Range (VOR) is a type of short-range radio navigation system for aircraft, enabling aircraft with a receiving unit to determine their position and stay on course by receiving radio signals transmitted by network of fixed ground radio beacons).

NDB (Non Directional Beacon – a radio transmitter at a known location, used as an aviation or marine navigational aid).

Meteorological forecasting and weather advisory services.

7 functional single engine basic training Cessna 172 aircraft six of which are brand new state of the art C172S aircraft equipped with Garmin 1000 Navigation system.

One twin engine Cessna 310 aircraft for advanced (instrument rating) pilot flight training.

One desktop flight training device for basic flying and procedures training.

One brand new Frasca FNPT II STD C172S Training device (simulator) for the new Cessna C172S glass cockpit aircraft.

Workshops for engineering training, kitchen cafeteria and a self-service laundry.

A computer laboratory and audio visual training aids, two fully – furnished dormitories for single occupancy student accommodation with the capacity of 108 students.

The students’ dormitory facilities can accommodate 108 students in total at any given time. However, due to an increasing global demand for aviation personnel, there are plans to construct another dormitory that will accommodate 200 students.

Civil Aviation Authority Uganda is the examining body of the students. Successful students get a Commercial Pilot License as well as Instrument Rating.
