Global Health Uganda (GHU) is a registered not for profit, limited liability company with the mission to promote child health by conducting and facilitating quality and relevant research in child health, neurodevelopment and interventions.

About Study:

GHU is conducting a clinical trial, the NOHARM MTD study, to determine the efficacy of safety of using different doses of hydroxyurea (Fixed vs Maximum Tolerated Dose) in children with sickle cell anemia. GHU now invitesapplications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following positions for the NOHARM MTD study which will be based at the Sickle Cell Clinic in Mulago hospital, Kampala.

Job Summary: The Study Manager will be responsible for the day to day running of the study.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Manage the recruitment, treatment and follow up of study participants
  • Ensure study is conducted according to approved protocol.
  • Ensure appropriate dosing, dispensing, compliance and documentation of study medication.
  • Prepare, review and submit adverse and serious adverse event reports to the necessary regulatory bodies.
  • Assess and ensure participant safety throughout the study.
  • Supervise and ensure that research assistants are performing their respective roles.
  • Oversee and manage on-site administrative and logistical issues pertaining to the study. 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  

  • The ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or MBChB or Bachelor’s degree in any related fields.
  • The applicant should also possess a MMED or MSC or MPH.
  • Possess a valid certificate in Good Clinical Practice and Human Participants Research Training.
  • Previous experience in clinical research is an added advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
