SUMAIT University UQF Level Six Courses Offered
UQF level 6 Certificate in general Science
Nature of the programme.
The UQF level 6 Certificate in General Science is a 1-year program. The program comprises of 120 credits; 80 credits are for field of specialization courses while 40 credits are specified for University requirements courses. Student should take one among these combinations (Physics -Mathematics, Physics-Chemistry, Chemistry- Mathematics, Chemistry -Biology and Biology-Geography).
Programme objectives and philosophy
The UQF Level 6 Certificate in General Science programme is designed to:-
Meet the needs of all students who have not qualified to enter UQF level 8 directly.
Reinforce and further develop students knowledge, understanding, skills and competencies acquired at AdvanceLevel Secondary Education or NTA level 6.
Extend and deepen the range and quality of the young person’s educational experiences in terms of knowledge, understanding, skills and competencies.
Prepare the young person for the requirements of further programmes of study, or employment.
Entry Requirements
Possession of Advanced Level Certificate of Secondary School Education with one principal pass and two subsidiary passes in the relevant subjects or possession of NTA Level 5 or Diploma from a recognized institution.
Candidate from countries such as Kenya, Malawi, Comoros and Sudan where there is no Advanced Level Certificate of Secondary School Education must possess average C+ and above.
UQF level 6 Certificate in Arts and Social Science
Programme objectives and philosophy
The objectives of the Certificate in Arts and Social sciences are:-
To fill in gaps that a candidate has at his/her Advanced Secondary School Education or equivalent level in arts and social science subjects.
To provide students with knowledge and skills and competencies that will enable them to pursue degree programme in arts and social sciences.
To reinforce students knowledge, skills and competencies acquired in Advanced level or NTA 6 or its equivalent
To provide students with life skills and competencies.
