Job Summary: The Teacher Trainer will work alongside the teachers from our partner schools and communities within the central region. The Teacher Trainer will work with the Director of Teaching and Learning at the forefront of our professional development program- Literacy Instruction Training Program, working with teachers at early grade levels to grow literacy instruction techniques in new and innovative ways. The program focuses on the practical implementation of professional development sessions and enforces this by visiting teachers’ classrooms to observe their practices. The Teacher Trainer will take the lead role on the execution of the following Primary Responsibilities and an assistant role on the following Secondary Responsibilities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- The Teacher Trainer with the support of the Director of Teaching & Learning is in charge of facilitating our teacher training program. Program focuses is exclusively on early grade literacy instruction and formative student assessment.
- Conducting ongoing relationships and observations of teachers outside of formal trainings
- Working closely with the Director of Teaching & Learning to develop, administer and analyze student and teacher assessments.
- Develop and administer literacy programs with the support of the Director of Teaching & Learning
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to engage target community members in our Mobile Library Project and Caretakers Literacy Program
- Collect data regarding client profiles, program attendance and programmatic data points as requested by Country Director
- Supporting in the identification and recruitment of more teachers to benefit from our Literacy Instruction Training Program
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in the following fields: Education Primary Three years of Early Grade teaching experience Required
- Superior knowledge in literacy instruction Required
- Leadership experience in the educational sector Required
- Superior oral and written communication skills in English Required
- Demonstrates a passion and incorporation of progressive and innovative teaching techniques Required
- Computer fluency and understanding of multiple educational technology platforms Required
