Job Summary:   The Technical Program Manager – Child Protection will act as the Child Protection Lead for WVU providing leadership to the implementation of WVU Child Protection/Safeguarding Policies/Standards; and to Peace and Child Protection Technical Programming across all priority sectors and Lines of Ministry in both development and emergency context. The position contributes to the Vision of Children enjoying life in all its fullness through realization of sustainable CWB outcomes at the community, district and national levels.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Child safe organization responsibilities: Oversee staff and partner awareness building on WVU Child Protection Policies, standards and protocols as well as monitoring compliance for quality/ timely reporting to Child Safe Organization practices across the National Office as per World Vision Partnership – child protection standards/guidelines, including the GNOD reporting.
  • Technical Programs Designed in line with partnership standards: Leads on processes of effectively integrating peace and child protection in WVU strategic plans, Technical Approaches and Area Programme or project Designs/Plans, as well as policy advocacy and campaign initiatives, while ensuring alignment to WV Partnership and EARO Peace and Protection Strategies.
  • Capacity building: Build the capacity of staff and partners to implement the national strategy and Peace and Child Protection Technical Programme
  • People Management: Provide technical guidance in staff recruitment, development and retention, as well as ensuring supervision, motivation and performance reviews.
  • Roll out of Project Models: Working closely with technical specialists, sponsorship and program teams, coordinate the roll-out of the peace and child protection related models, (like CP&A, CoH, CC and, ECaP) monitoring their implementation, reviews, impact assessments and learning, to inform WVU reporting and accountability mechanisms.
  • External Engagements: Coordinate strengthening of partnerships, net-works and coalitions with child focused Government Institutions, Civil Society Organizations and the private sector, at local and national levels; and participation in National level Child Protection Technical Working Group engagements to influence policy
  • Child Protection in Emergencies: Provides technical guidance in the integration and implementation of Children in Emergencies interventions in humanitarian response programmes.
  • Fundraising: Coordinate fundraising efforts for Peace and Child Protection, in collaboration with the GAM team and also provide technical support in implementation and reporting of successful grant projects.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for the World Vision Technical Program Manager – Child Protection job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) Social Work and Social Administration (SWSA)/Social Sciences, Development Studies, Education.
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Human Rights, Development Studies or law from a recognized institution is an added advantage
  • A sound understanding of social justice issues and Human Rights with demonstrated experience in Children’s rights advocacy
  • A working knowledge in Computers especially MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) will be an added advantage
  • Ability to lead in contributing to development of policies; work in a multi cultural environment; carry out Social Research; mobilize resources through proposals, concept notes and public appeals; conceptualize, design and produce communication material, including message and content development in the area of Child Rights protection campaigns; excellent interpersonal skills and good Public Relations skills and ability to network with United Nations agencies and other Child Rights Civil Society Organizations including the Church
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
