About Program Description:

TechnoServe wishes to engage a Mobilization, Training and Aftercare Assistant to work on the Girls’ Apprenticeship Program, Phase VI. The GAP VI program is a one-year program, funded by the Citi Foundation, that will link 20 successful business women graduates of TechnoServe’s Women Mean Business (WMB) program to 60 vulnerable girls. The businesswomen take the girls into their employment for a brief period (three – five months) during which they train them in practical skills such as tailoring, crafts making, baking, welding, shoe making and hair dressing. The businesswomen serve as mentors and role models to show the younger girls how they too can start businesses and care for themselves and their families.

 

Job Summary:  The Mobilization, Training and Aftercare Assistant will support mobilization and recruitment of sixty (60) GAP beneficiaries (mentees) and twenty (20) mentors on the project. He / She will be responsible for conducting the Entrepreneurship training and supervising the Technical skills training in the mentors’ workshops to ensure high quality training packages are delivered to the mentees. The staff should possess an ability to effectively communicate and relate with different people in society.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist the Lead Business Advisor to mobilize mentors to participate on the GAP VI program.
  • Identify vulnerable girls who match the GAP criteria to be recruited on the program.
  • Take the mentees through training on personal effectiveness, Basic personal and business finance, and Basic business skills.
  • Assist in the matching of mentors and mentees to ensure suitability and successful relationship maintenance between the two parties.
  • Carryout follow up visits to both mentors and mentees to ensure training and mentorship are ongoing.
  • Train and prepare the girls for Business Plan Competitions.
  • Any other duties assigned by your supervisor

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate must hold a diploma in Business related discipline such as Business studies, Marketing and Entrepreneurship. A degree is an added advantage
  • Minimum of two years’ field experience with, Entrepreneurship development, Vendors and micro-retailor business support and engagement, youth and women entrepreneurship support.
  • Strong private sector experience, facilitation skills and Participatory Approaches and client relationship building
  • Relevant skills of Monitoring and Evaluation tools and practices including use of online digital platform for delivering trainings, data capturing and reporting
  • Good computer skills (Excel and MS word)
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
