UBTEB Accredits 91 Training Institutions
UBTEB is mandated to accredit Training Institutions as examination centres inline with the Statutory Instrument of 2009, No.9. In line with this mandate, the Board carried out inspection of training institutions in December 2017 and out of these, a total of 91 institutions have been provisionally accredited as UBTEB Examination centres.
As the Board we are pleased and would like to congratulate the heads of these training institutions. “The Board is ready to work with all these new institutions to make sure that there is effective and quality assessment of candidates in these institutions” Onesmus Oyesigye, UBTEB Executive Secretary said
The Board encourages any training institution that offers Business, technical and Vocational academic programmes to liaise with the Board for accreditation as an Examination centre. The rules and regulations on conduct of these examinations are in place to ensure that there is smooth conduct of examinations at all times.
In the same way, UBTEB will carry out inspection for accreditation of 24 additional training institutions comprising of Universities and Tertiary Institutions in March 2018. As the Board, we have the capacity to ensure that all institutions that apply for accreditation as UBTEB Examination centres are accredited with in the shortest time possible in order to enable institutions prepare candidates for our examinations series in May/June or November/December each year. According to Onesmus Oyesigye, UBTEB together with relevant Departments and Agencies will ensure that there is strong coordination in fulfilling the ideals of the BTVET Act 2008 in regard to streamlining, regulating and conduct of examinations and awards in the Business, technical, Vocational and specialized professions as stipulated in Section 9 of the BTVET Act 2009.
