Introduction

The aim of this course is to enable students to acquire the basic techniques and skills for critical thinking and argumentation. It specifically aims at helping the students to improve the quality of their thinking and argumentation by making commitment to reason and fair-mindedness. In addition to familiarizing students with elementary methods of argument composition and analysis, the course is further designed aid them in understanding the essential principles involved in the theory and practice of reasoned decision making by avoiding formal and informal fallacies.
